Genesis Youth Services, Inc. (GYS) a nonprofit
organization, was founded in 2016 in Jacksonville, FL
by youth advocates, Mark and Keia Farr. This
husband-and-wife team employs an inviting, inclusive,
and inspiring environment that embraces the unique
differences among youth. Through these unique
differences, GYS demonstrates the importance of
discovering the common thread that connects us all
and utilizes this connection as the foundation to build
upon. GYS helps youth along their journey to self‑discovery
by encouraging them to examine their lives
to identify areas that require assessment, adjustment,
and advancement.
As a nonprofit IRS 501(c)3 corporation serving youth
12-18, GYS operates to effect change through multiple
approaches, including but not limited to: mentorship,
empowerment, mental health and wellness, life skills,
and pro-social activities. All components are geared
towards helping youth gain self-esteem, acquire
relationship-building skills, define boundaries, assess
behavior and make necessary adjustments, cultivate
areas of personal strengths, and increase areas of
personal weakness.
Recognizing the residential needs of youth who find
themselves displaced, homeless, or unable to return
home, GYS established Genesis House as a safe
haven where residents can grow and develop in a
secure, healthy, and loving environment. GYS has
established strong partnerships with the local business
community, media, school districts, and other youth–serving organizations in the community to increase
opportunities and inspire success in the lives of
residents. Mark and Keia Farr, and their staff continue
to implement GYS’ vision and expand the scope of
program services.
